What Is PortStone?
PortStone is an innovative, patent pending flooring product that is
made from a specially modified cementitious material enhanced with co-polymers,
industrial grade aggregates, acrylic resins, and other proprietary components all reinforced with a woven
fiberglass mesh. It is made to resemble brick, stone, slate, and tile. PortStone is no thicker than ceramic
tile, yet it has more impact resistance than ceramic tile or even full sized brick.
PortStone has the look and feel of brick and stone, but it is much easier and faster to install. It is installed
much like ceramic tile onto thin-set mortar, but instead of installing one brick at the time, with PortStone, as many as 16 bricks can be laid in one
motion.
PortStone Paver Sheets are made up of
several "bricks" connected by fiberglass mesh and laid out in a predetermined pattern. Because the pattern is
already established for you, even complex brick patterns such as herringbone, circles, and even logos are
laid in a small fraction of the time and cost that would be required with regular brick pavers or cut
stone. And, there's no need for a tile saw or expensive diamond blades. Using a sharp utility knife, or
scoring tool, simply score the PortStone Paver at the desired cut location and snap it along that line, then
cut the mesh. Rounded cuts are very easily done with regular tile nippers. On interior
surfaces, PortStone Pavers can be used anywhere ceramic tile could be used. Now you can have a
brick floor over conventional foundations or basements! At only about 2.3 pounds per square foot,
PortStone weighs less than typical ceramic tile.
Daily maintenance is very easy. Simply dust mop or damp mop occasionally. Also, mopping on a thin coat of our
recommended fast drying floor finish every 6 to 12 months will keep your PortStone floor looking as good as
new in as little as 20 minutes.
All PortStone products are handmade, giving each floor its own
unique and special character and appeal available nowhere else. PortStone is excellent for interior floors or
exterior use on porches, patios, pool decks, and walkways, new construction or remodeling. PortStone
can even be used on interior vertical surfaces such as fireplace surrounds, accent walls, and
backsplashes.
